BIOGRAPHY
SOPHIE RIMHEDEN: TRAVELLERWhen Sophie Rimheden broke through in 2003 her music sounded like Madonna put through a meat grinder. Now is the time for her fourth album where she has succeeded to mix her twisted electronica and danceable beats with modern hip-hop. Appearing on the album are some of the most noteworthy names of Swedish contemporary hip-hop; Adam Tensta, Form One, Aaron Phiri (Hearin' Aid), Chris Kanaki (CK) and DJ Rooftop.
As is common on Rimheden's albums there is a theme in the music; this time it is travelling. Traveller talks about Sophie's own journey from Bjärnum in the southern province of Skåne to Stockholm and the rest of the world, about the journey from being a misunderstood synth musician at home to becoming an internationally acknowledged electronica producer, and finally about Sophie's inner, mental journeys and her longing away from everyday life.
Traveller is Sophie Rimheden's fourth album. Her previous body of work contains releases on labels Mitek and Svedjebruk, a number of singles, collaborations with Håkan Lidbo, Marit Bergman and Kajsa Grytt, remixes and music written for dance productions and films. Sophie is also a member of Hässleholm, a sort of Swedish Electronica All Stars, together with Andreas Tilliander and Johan T Karlsson, aka Familjen. Since her debut she has on several occasions been nominated for Swedish awards like Grammis, Manifest, P3 Guld and SAMA.
